Love It For Document Archiving, Photo Albums and Avoiding Faxing and Postal Mail

by   djsepinions ,  Apr 17, 2006
Pros: Scanner software, speed, size, weight, no power supply.
Cons: Sometimes buttons do work when scanner and/or PC sleeps.
The Bottom Line: An excellent general scanner for all kinds of home and prosumer scanning tasks. Many little benefits that aren't obvious before purchasing.
Review: My Epinions Philosophy When I make a purchase, epinions is one of my most valuable resources for non-biased experiences and information. When I come here to research a product I read all of the reviews and the product specifications and details ...

Great scanner for the price.

by   andgott ,  Mar 24, 2008
Pros: Small, Portable.
Cons: Nothing I can think of
The Bottom Line: Buy it. At this price, You Can't go wrong.
Review: I have owned a few of these canon scanners, in various models, over the years. I have never had any problems with them at all. They are small, and ultra portable, which is great if you need a high quality scanner 'on the go'. The fact that they are ...

Great value, easy to use, many features

by   kbjesq ,  Aug 31, 2005
Pros: Good software, easy to use, instant scan-copy-email buttons, no separate power cord req'd
Cons: Would not be suitable for high-volume scanning, no sheet-feeder
The Bottom Line: Great value, easy to use, perfect for home or light business use
Review: I ordered this scanner from an online discounter at the recommendation of a friend. It took about 10 min. to get out of the box, set up on my desk, and install the software (included). The directions were easy to follow. The scanner connects to your ...

An Excellent Scanner

by   wizardways ,  Dec 3, 2005
Pros: Easy to learn-as-you-go. Inexpensive
Cons: Operates at USB 1 speed - even so, it is not a slow scanner anyway.
Review: I purchased the LiDE 25 after reading excellent reports on other sites and in Computer Mags. I use Windows XP Pro and the scanner installed without a hitch and works perfectly. An excellent scanner for the first-time buyer as it is so simple to use. ...

Grab and Scan

by   stse ,  May 19, 2009
Pros: Powercordless, light weight
Cons: little bit slow with some noise, bad software package
The Bottom Line: Cheap, light weight, durable and cordless, get one for home for special use for tax doc archiving or photos.
Review: Another light weight device that I like it. Introduction  If you are in a quick need to scan something to your laptop or desktop or if you are into travelling and scanning document will be very handy if you use this device. ...

Great Cheap Scanner

by   krill ,  Dec 8, 2008
Pros: Cheap. Good quality.  Held up better than expected. Flatbed!
Cons: Low-end software.  Platen too small for legal paper.
Review: Purchased the Canoscan LiDE 25 scanner in early 2008 to transfer photos and paper files to disk.  Paid less than $50 new and created about 500 files in the first two months.  It has performed flawlessly and is still working fine.  Am ...

Simple to Use Simple Scanner

by   ilpo ,  Mar 2, 2006
Pros: Low Price, No Power Cords, Standard USB connection, light weight
Cons: No fancy features
Review: This has got to be one of the simplest scanners that I have ever connected to a PC. Using XP Home just plug it in and go! The software is good to add, but it is up and running just like that. This scanner unlike all my previous ones uses the USB ...

brad's Experience

by   brad ,  Jan 20, 2006
Pros: the hardware is of good quality. produces high-quality images.
Cons: transfers over USB 1.1! absolutely absurd for 2006.
The Bottom Line: Stay away from this model and find something modern with USB 2.0. Scanning is basic stuff, folks. Why Canon screwed this up, I don't know.
Review: Howdy. I received this scanner as a gift for Christmas, 2005. It was on my Amazon wish list. I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this scanner, but I was negligent with regard to one simple fact: apparently some hardware makers are ...

Don't buy this one

by   sunnypatch ,  Jan 3, 2007
Pros: Slim design, comes with good picture software (probably because you'll need them...)
Cons: Really bad quality, grainy and off-colour scans, takes a long time to scan, screeeeeech,...
The Bottom Line: Steer clear of this one. Bad quality, grainy, off-colour scans that take a long time to scan - along with an interesting errr-errrrrr-screeech sound when scanning! It's already been returned.
Review: I wish I would have had this review when we hurriedly had bought a scanner because our previous HP ScanJet 4200c died. It's already been returned - 3 hours after the purchase! We figured that the Canon name wouldn't steer us wrong - we were so wrong. ...

DO NOT BUY!!!

by   ischarr1 ,  Oct 20, 2005
Pros: N/A
Cons: This product is flawed and the drivers do not work.
Review: I got this thing and none of the drivers work with XP Pro., even though the box specifically says that it is compatible with XP Pro. Nothing I did changed the fact, and the on-line support conveniently skirts the whole driver problem by telling you to ...
