Terrible printer

Date of Review: Jan 16, 2000

This is a terrible printer, and I would recommend that you do not purchase it. Canon has not been a good company to deal with, at least not for me.

I purchased a new computer over a year ago, and this printer came with it. From the minute I loaded the software, it has not worked correctly. I had nothing but error messages and it finally stopped printing altogether.

I emailed Canon, and tried to troubleshoot the problem. After weeks of emails back and forth with the tech, and following all his directions, he finally instructed me to send it back to them, at my expense, and they might send me back a refurbished one.

I asked if I could return it to the store where it was purchased so the tech could actually work on it, and he said no, they were not an authorized repair facility. This is a well known computer store here in the midwest. Why do computer stores sell an item, and fix numerous other similar items, and not this one???

I then inquired if I would get a new one, or if they would fix this one. He said it sounded like it could be refurbished for someone else, but in the meantime they would send me another refurbished one. This was all within the warranty time. What good is a warranty if I am just going to get someone else's lemon??? I thought if it broke within the warranty, or it never worked right, then they either fixed it or gave you a new one.

Not Cannon, they will send me someone else's broken printer that has been fixed. I chose not to return it, as I did not want another Canon product, and I will never buy from them again. Any business that does not stand behind their products has a lousy business.
