Wow! IS is truly revolutionary - makes 12x36 practical

Date of Review: May 27, 2002

The Bottom Line:  Buy them immediately! The IS puts them heads beyond any comparble non IS binocs and lets you get the extra detail of 12x without fatigue.
I was a bit concerned before buying these because most birders recommended max 8x magnification to avoid eye fatigue. But with the IS the 12x is no problem - the clear. bright image is easy to view and so stable that you can pick out phenomenal detail. Everyone who borrowed them was amazed and immediately wanted a pair.

I considered buying the popular Canon 10x30IS but chose these instead and am so happy I did. The extra weight isn't bad and the detail is worth the cost IMHO.

Some people have compained that they eat batteries, but if you scan without engaging the IS and only turn it on when you have found the target it doesn't seem a problem.

Beautifully made.
