Stay Hydrated

I'm an extremely athletic soldier. I've been mountain biking and using Camelbacks for the past 11 years. I've seen the changes and updates in their products as time has past. This is a good well seasoned product made by a company that has been around for a few years now.

The MULE pack offers a 100 oz resevour and pockets for storage. This is a great place to store my power bars well I'm out biking, as well as my wallet and essentials. The pack is insulated and the tube comes with an insulated lining now. The system is hands free. The tube is designed so that you can bend your neck down, bite the valve, and drink the water out of the straw. This comes in handy when you need your hands for other things, such as maneveuring your bike.

Now their even making full size backpacks with camel back slots, but all I do is strap my MULE pack to the outside of my backpack. For external frame packs I even strap it between my body and my backpack.

This product has become so essential that military operations now issue and use the camelbacks, trust me I've had two of them issued to me. The new advanced weapons suit for the soldier of the future even incorporates a camel back system that feeds directly into the helmet.

This is a must for any athlete or outdoor enthusiast.

PS Cleaning is not difficult with the $6 kit. This is a must buy! This gives me the piece of mind that my water supply is still fresh.

Oh yeah, Rangerjoe.com offers a camelback filter that splices into the straw and can be used for streamwater etc...Not a bad deal for hiking through the woods.

Another addition, eagleindustries.com now offers a way to seal off your water hose. Their Hydration Enhancement Program (HEP) attaches to the end of your hose and has a Hydro-Loc shut off valve that can close the hose off, so you don't have any spill if the bite valve is pinched. This will still work off the same old bite valve system that I know and love, but now gives you the piece of mind that it won't leak when you throw it into the back of your truck.
