Author's Review
While out on a bike ride, I have a tendency to forget to drink water, either I'm too busy or just plain lazy. And we all know that if you wait to drink water until you are thirsty, it is usually too late. The way to hydrate your body is to drink water before your thirsty, which is easier said than done. Not anymore, with the Camelbak M.U.L.E., water is not only accessible, but plentiful as well.
Why would anyone need a "hydration system"? Well, take it from me, once you use one, you will never go back to packing water bottles around. Hydration systems allow you to drink water literally "hands free" and allow you to carry the water easily, with minimal effort, as it is stored on your back.
Price - The price of the Camelbak M.U.L.E. is around $75.00, which about average for a hydration system. Colors available are either blue with gray or forest green with black.
Features - The Camelbak M.U.L.E.'s bladder (which holds the water), can carry 100 ounces of liquid or three Big Gulps, plenty of water for an extended bike trip. The storage capacity on the Camelbak M.U.L.E. is 400 cubic inches and includes several pockets for storing gear or energy bars. Plus, there is an bungee strap on the outer shell that easily holds a light jacket, if needed.
Other Details - Not only does the Camelbak M.U.L.E. offer a great deal of storage space, it is also very comfortable to wear. Padded shoulder straps and a removable waistbelt, keep the M.U.L.E. secure during rough rides. Finally, the "big bite" valve allows water to you to drink water in just the right amount, without feeling like you are drowning. As with all hydration systems, the inner bladder can grow mildew or bacteria if not cleaned properly, so I would recommend a cleaning kit.
Overall, if you are looking for a great hydration system with many features, that is easy to use, and comfortable to wear, look no further than the Camelbak M.U.L.E., you may not ever want to go back to packing water bottles around again.
