All that glitters is not gold
Date of Review: Aug 6, 2003
The Bottom Line: The bottom line is there are better choices. At least hold out and get a 1996 Seville. They made a lot of crucial changes that year. The newer, the better.
-This looks like a really nice car, and it is in some areas, but it has drawbacks that would prevent me from buying it over again.
-I went on a long family trip (1,500miles) in the back seat. Because they mount the gas tank under the rear seat for safety, it gives little room for padding. It sits too low, and after an hour or so, my rear is in pain, no kidding. I hate the back seat. Getting to it is bad too, you have to duck and tuck.
-For a Cadillac, the car has an average ride, at best. It's the Variable Road Sensing Suspension that's doing it. I know it! I've been in Cadillacs without it and they rode fine. It rides like a two-wheel drive pickup truck.
-The Northstar engine is great, but because of its 3-piece block, they are very prone to leaking oil, as mine does. I put in a quart or two of oil between oil changes.
-The instrument panel looks like it came out of a Chevrolet Cavalier from 1995. Lexus began using flourescent instrument panels in 1990. In 1995, Cadillac was still using the incandescent bulbs which have been used since the begining of the lit instrument panel.
-For a mid-size car, it's rather small inside.
