Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, my childhood playmates |
|||||||
|
Pros: Characters. Action. Script.
Cons: One montage a little tedious.
The Bottom Line: is everything.
Review: The sad fact of classics is that very few of them are perfect. "Morning Bell" on Radiohead's Kid A? They coulda done without it. An American in Paris' 20-minute closing sequence? Too long, and not very fun. But the reason that they're all ...

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, They Were At My Wedding

Pros: Memorable for many reasons
Cons: Raindrops keep falling on my head.
The Bottom Line: This drama, though a bit dated, of two outlaws is presented as light hearted, humorous and entertaining buddy film that continues to be a favorite of mine.
Review: How did those characters get into my wedding. They didn't crash it. They were invited. More in a bit. The year 1969 was an amazing year for me. I was in my late teens and a sports and movie fan. The NY METS won their first World Series. That was also ...

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969): Unforgettable Hijinks in the Old West |
|||||||||
|
Pros: Pervasive irony mixed with humor.
Cons: Reality is stretched almost to the breaking point in places.
The Bottom Line: This is one of the classics. If you want to see the Western that made Robert Redford a star and gave Paul Newman a great boost too, see this one.
Review: I think one of the reasons that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was such a stunning, classic hit almost 40 years ago, back in 1969, was that it was a dance of sunlight for American audiences in the dark and gloomy days of the Vietnam War. It ...

Pros: Goldman, Hill and the two unknowns!
Cons: None. Gold. Period.
The Bottom Line: Very rarely will you find an original in anything. This film is one of them and a pure classic.
Review: My favorite Western, hands down, bar none is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (Jeremiah Johnson being a very close second and Bite the Bullet, third). The interesting thing about Butch and the Kid is- if you time the violence/bullets- it's ...

Pros: a light hearted classic western
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: a classic lighthearted western featuring the best pairing of lead actors ever.
Review: We all know that this film is a classic, but there is more to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid than meets the eye, more of that later. Everything to do with the film seems to set high standards. The pairing of Paul Newman and Robert Redford as the main ...

My Personal Experience with BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID. |
|||||||||
|
Pros: An essentially true story told with great imagination and humor.
Cons: Some details in the movie, though often correct, strain credulity.
The Bottom Line: Superb bonding and timing in the acting of Newman and Redford enthrall us, making the film one of the last highly successful American Westerns!
Review: In the "Hole in the Wall Country" of Southern Montana and Northern Wyoming, they still talk of George "Butch" Cassidy and Lonny Longbaugh, aka "The Sundance Kid." For over 20 years, the pair robbed banks and trains. In fact, before they went East, and ...

Pros: Redford and Newman are great together. Super script. Great editing.
Cons: That stupid song!
The Bottom Line: Incredible cinematography and editing. The script is tightly written. Robert Redford and Paul Newman are two of the most talented and sexiest men of Hollywood
Review: The Coen brother's movie Fargo begins with the statement that it is based on a true story, but it was not. This movie begins with the promise that "Most of what follows is true." It delivers on that statement. The sepia tone film clips that begin the...

Pros: Good story line, Fabulous Acting
Cons: none
Review: You know what? It just doesn't hurt to laugh anymore. Ya gotta love these guys, facing who knows what odds to become some of the most notorious bank robbers of all time. They never had a dime, everything they tried was botched, broken, mishapped (my...

Pros: Newman and Redford. Redford and Newman. Oh yeah, its a great story too.
Cons: : Ill explain the song thing in a minute, but it is annoying.
The Bottom Line: There are a lot of great reasons to watch this flick: Cinematography, Redford, plot, Newman, comedy, Redford, stunt work, Newman
need I say more?
Review: My husband and son love their cowboy movies. In fact, I purchased several VHS versions of old (1930s, 1940s) John Wayne movies that they will watch over and over. Me, I prefer something with a little more plausibility than these old chestnuts,...

Pros: acting, action, sets
Cons: persons with western phobia may not like
The Bottom Line: Excellent film! Even persosn who do not like westerns will LOVE IT!
Review: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (BCBK) is perhaps the best western movie I have ever seen! Thats saying a lot coming from someone who cant sit through a western. I am not aware of how this story was created. The film does mention that what...
