Product Review

Love This Thing!!

by   mroffshore ,   Jul 8, 2008

Pros:  Fast, accurate, easy to use, shave strokes from your game

Cons:  Could use true image stabilization...no objections really

The Bottom Line:  Buy it and start shaving strokes from your game...this thing is the real deal!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

OK, here's the skinny, I do a lot of research before buying...I narrowed it down to the Bushnell product pretty quickly...the Calloway by Nikon was on my short list, but I wasn't as impressed...didn't like its' pinseeker as much and it was a it too small for me...my thought is the larger models are easy to steady...proves true for me.

What I really like about this one is that it's large enough to handle...not so small it gets lost or fumbles in my hands. It has the best magnification and largest field of view (area you see when looking through it). I'm a bit shakey but can easily pin a flag from 300 yards or better. The device will truly take strokes from your game even on familiar courses as long as you take the time to know how far you hit your irons (as long as you hit them well on the shot that counts).

The included carry case easily straps to my bag, I can leave the zippered compartment open and rely on the magnetic flap so it's easily accessible. Would be nice if the interior of the bag were a bit more slippery so to speak so that it slides in and out a bit more easily...but overall it's not too bad at all.

I would have liked two things to be different...smaller size, but as addressed above the larger one makes more sense for me...so I can't really complain there even though I wish it was smaller (if that makes sense). I would have preferred the slope version...it's pretty cool, but illegal for tournament play...hey, I don't play tournaments so who cares, but finding one was a different story...no one had it and I would have to demo it first...found one in Texas while traveling but didn't want to blow the money on that trip. Settled for this model and have no real complaints about it.

I need to take it to a really nice range and dial in all my clubs with notes...especially my wedge and gap wedge (Mizuno baby) under varying swings...then build a nice quick laminated cheat sheet for course play...trust me it will save you on approach shots and staying out of hazards like water, sand and everything else they have to play. You can NOT trust course markers...I measure against them all the time and they are off! This removes all doubt.

The only problem I have had thus far and it was on my first day of using it was that the freaking sprinklers were on during my first five holes...seeming to stay in front of me as I approached every green...and this thing will pick up the water and make pinning a stick difficult...but that's definitely not going to be the norm.

I have to say this was money well spent and I am enjoying it as much as the people I play with who appreciate me giving them accurate yardage.

I am looking forward to a nice version with true image stabilization...that will be nice!!
