Author's Review
It's funny how this game is truly like the store, Build A Bear Workshop. I bought this game for my toddler who just received a Nintendo DS for Valentine's Day and is still learning how to play. It retails in stores for around $29.99. I thought that was a little expensive, but I found it used at Gamestop.
You first start out by selecting a save spot which will save all of the information about your bear. From there you will select a body for your stuffed animal and continue the journey. After you have selected a body you will need to stuff them. This is pretty easy for children to do because all they need to do is press the foot pedal down.
Once you have stuffed the bear you selected, then you will need to add a heart to him. You can select from one of four different colored hearts. You can add sound to your animal if you choose. All of these tasks are very simple for a small child to do, may get boring for the older children.
The next step in the bear making process is you are going to have to stitch him up in the back. This is the only thing my toddler cannot understand to do. It is very simple though, you just drag the needle to the finger pointing where you need to go. It takes some practice, but when you got it down it is quite easy.
Once you have stitched your bear, the next step is to give him a bath, comb him, and dry him off so he is ready to go home. My daughter has a blast with this part, and she loves to take care of her baby dolls. Once you have cleaned them up, you can pick an outfit out to take them home in.
They will come back to your virtual home just like the real ones do, in the cardboard home. You can now take the opportunity to color the home, which the little kids love to do. Once they are home with you, you are free to do whatever you want with them. And this is where the fun begins.
At your house with your bear you are given several options of activities you can do with your bear. My daughter's favorite activity to do with them is to feed them. You can also play several minigames with your bear like musical chairs! All of the games are very easy to play so little children would really love this game.
Build-A-Bear Workshop for the Nintendo DS is truly a fun game for the little ones. My daughter comes back to her one bear every day and plays with her. This is definately a game for little ones, older kids will get bored with it really fast.
