Author's Review
In 1994, Joss Whedon penned a script for a movie about a cheerleader destined to fight vampires. It was a bit dark, and before it saw the light of day, it had been meddled with to the point it had lost its dark edge and become quite campy. As a result, it did only moderately successfully at the box office and was nearly forgotten about. But then Whedon got a second chance to revisit his original vision, when the fledgling TV network The WB was looking for series. Thus Buffy the Vampire Slayer the TV series was born, and between The WB and later the UPN network, it ran for seven highly successful seasons and spawned a spinoff, Angel, that ran for five.
The Chosen set is all seven seasons of the BTVS series, in one neat package that won't take up as much room on a shelf as the seven individual season box sets. The DVDs are exactly the same as the ones in the individual sets, only the packaging has changed.
Well, not *exactly* the same. There is an extra DVD of bonus features included with the Chosen box set that can only be had by spending the money for this set. It's not available any other way.
So if you were planning to purchase the Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons, this is the way to go. It's cheaper in the long run (although buying the individual seasons might be easier on the budget, they'll cost you more in the end), and you get a bonus DVD you can't get anywhere else.
