Product Review

Wait A Second

by   coresponger ,   Jun 24, 2002

Pros:  Mellow music with simple melodic feel to it.

Cons:  Might be too mellow for some.

The Bottom Line:  Buy it if you like mellow music (i.e Dave Matthews Band, David Gray, etc...).

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

First off, I am not going to give you a track-by-track breakdown of this album. If you are looking for that go somewhere else, because super long reviews such as those get on my nerves.

Now for the review. This album is my favorite album so far this year. I generally listen to alternative rock and rap, as well as some classic rock. However, being born and raised at the beach, and an avid surfer, leaves me with a sense of pride to see such a successful crossover by Jack Johnson into the music world. His voice seems to remind many of a Ben Harper-Dave Matthews-David Gray type, but I find it to be totally unique and melodic.

This album flows very well from song to song. For the most party every song is super mellow, with that "surfer lifestyle" feel to it. It is difficult to quantify what makes this album so good, but there is just something about the way it is put together that really strikes home. I would definitely recommend this album to anyone who likes a more mellow vibe to some of their music. I guarantee that this music will be liked by anyone who is a Dave Matthews Band fan, or a fan of similar sounding bands. I don't think that this album has the same sound as Dave Matthews, but it definitely seems to attract the same type of listener.

All in all one of my favorite albums of all time which is somewhat strange considering I hate Dave Matthews Band and usually find myself drawn to more upbeat music.
