Brother Bear 2
A beautiful story about friendship, love, and family takes place in Alaska. Not only are the Northern Lights beautiful, did you know they were magic? Did you know they were spirits? According to this Disney Movie, they are and this unique interpretation was shown so beautifully through the script and the amazing special effects that Disney so easily accomplishes in every movie.
An Indian chief's son, Kenai, was transformed into an Alaskan bear by the spirits that look like the Northern Lights in the first movie "Brother Bear". Both movies integrate the traditional Indian beliefs of spirituality.
In the beginning of "Brother Bear 2", Kenai, (Patrick Dempsey) remembers Nita, (Mandy Moore) his childhood friend. In the beginning, they are playing in the forest as young children. In an instant, Nita falls through the ice and Kenai saves her. By the fire, he gives her an amulet and on that night they swear they will be best friends forever.
The movie than takes you to a later time. Nita is full grown and it is her wedding day; she is to marry Adaka. During the wedding ceremony, the earth splits around her separating her from her family and her beloved fiance. The tribe and Nita take this as a sign from the spirits. She visits the shaman, (Wanda Sykes); the shaman instructs her to find Kenai and burn the amulet together. She will then be able to marry Adaka because her soul will no longer be one with Kenai's. The shaman casts a spell allowing Nita to understand Kenai, because he only speaks "bear". Nita leaves her tribe to find him.
Koda, Kenai's little brother is very cute; he was born a bear unlike Kenai. They are both dedicated to each other as true siblings and are as thick as thieves. As the story progresses, Kenai is torn between his new world and old as Nita comes back into his life.
There are numerous opportunities to laugh especially with the two inventive hilariously funny moose trying to pick up babes. This movie was heart-warming and was funnier than the first movie. It was exciting from the beginning and the seventy-three minute movie wasn't long enough for me; it went by too fast and left me wanting more. I really enjoyed this film. I enjoyed all of the characters and especially the relationship between the two bears. I believe this is a movie for the whole family to enjoy!
