Author's Review
Well, it seems this little number is destined for the close-out bins at your local Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, etc. If you time it right, you can pick up one of these babies for $30-35 after rebates (and rebates seem to happen about once a month).
Not too difficult to set up, you will have to read the manual though. You'll get really tired really quickly of hearing 4 quick beeps, which is the machine's way of laughing at you.
Configured out of the box, it assumes its on a dedicated fax line (doesn't every home office have a dedicated fax line?) so if you have an answering machine set to pick up on the 5th unanswered ring, you'll be in for a surprise because dear Brother Fax picks up on the 4th ring.
My main complaint with the unit is the woefully underlit and oddly positioned L.E.D. I have a sneaky hunch that the reason this unit is so inexpensive is that it is subsidized by the Optometrists Guild. You WILL go blind trying to read this unit under normal lighting conditions.
The keypad has a bit of a hair trigger as well, you'll have to take care about doubling up numbers you press (good luck reading them on the LED!)
