Recommended for light users

The Bottom Line: I recommend this printer to small business people and home users who do light printing.
I have had my Brother HL-1435 printer for about 3 years. I use at my small business, primarily as a single-user printer with less than 10 pages printed per day. So, I could be classified as more than a home user, but probably not as much as a small-business owner that would use it as their primary printer.
The negative:
Slightly slow compared to most modern b/w small business printers (the page-per-minute) speed only.
Needs to have rollers cleaned every few months.
Need to press button every so often.
The positive:
Toner lasts very long time
Very good print quality
Wakes up from Power save mode very quickly.
As stated in other reviews, the Brother HL-1435 is monochrome laser printer targeted at the home and small office markets. My experience with this printer is that it fits ideally into that category.
The printer's toner cartridge has lasted a very long time. As a matter of fact, I just recently needed to replace it, after over two years of printing.
The printer has a power-save mode, but unlike most printers, it does an amazing job of waking up and warming up and is usually printing within 45 seconds of sending a print job.
The print quality is very good. However, I have needed to clean the rollers every few months, to prevent black streaks, or paper with grey marks on it.
My one major complaint, though not a big deal, ever so often when printing multiple pages, the printer will hang between pages and the alarm light will flash. You will need to press the button (there is only one) on the front of the printer and it will resume printing like nothing happened. I have installed new drivers and replaced the cable, but it has not corrected the problem. Like I said, not a big deal, but a nuisance none the less.
