Nice Color Laser Printer, Great for Home & Office

by   johnnyfb ,  May 29, 2004
Pros: Excellent Print Quality, Easy Installation, Great Speed, Web-Interface
Cons: Hard to find, a bit noisy but not bad, and lacks a multipurpose tray.
The Bottom Line: Definantely would recommend to anyone looking for a color laser printer. Other brands and models cant compare.
Review: I purchased this color laser printer a little over 2 weeks ago and have been very pleased with it so far. The color print quality is fantastic. It has a 2400x600 dpi resolution (64MB expandable to 512mb) and it really shows when printing graphics, text, ...

Short lived printer

by   nateman7 ,  May 5, 2007
Pros: Price and printout
Cons: Service life and parts costs
The Bottom Line: Spend more money and get a reliable printer
Review: We purchased the 2700CN about two years ago, due to its low price and good output and the fact that our old HP Laserjet III+ couldn't handle printing pdf's or other memory-intensive documents, which we frequently need to print. Upon putting it into ...

Very Dissapointing - 3 Times

by   tomewilson ,  Aug 17, 2006
Pros: None that we have observed.
Cons: Unreliable technically. Extremely poor customer service.
The Bottom Line: Don't purchase this unit. Also Brohter has very poor service.
Review: Puchased this unit summer of 2005 and right out of the box, it didn't work. Brother sent someone to repair it 2 days later. We stored it for about 5 months until we started up our business. Soon after hooking it up, it didn't print margins correctly, ...

Harmed My Printing For 4 Years

by   kerton ,  May 4, 2009
Pros: Good software, drivers, features, Internet printing.
Cons: Slow, noisy, bad quality, expensive consumables, fussy paper feeder, doors don't close precisely
The Bottom Line: This item is probably not available new anymore, but avoid it as a used item...even if its offered for "free".
Review: I bought this printer in 2005 to save money and time running down to Kinkos for color prints for my business. I've suffered with it for four years before replacing it, and buying the new printer was the equivalent of stopping hitting myself with a ...

Too expensive to maintain!

by   bclt2000 ,  Mar 1, 2006
Pros: Looks great when it works!
Cons: Ridiculously expensive to maintain!
Review: I have had this printer for 10 1/2 months, I have spent $1420.00 in toner, $350.00 to replace the OPC belt and now Brother wants another $336.00 to replace the transfer unit. The printer was purchased from Quill for $549.98. The printer works great ...

Bad at paper handling

by   cdonald ,  Oct 12, 2006
Pros: quick and cheap to buy
Cons: buy a new printer when you want consumables... its cheaper
Review: The brother cant handle anything but perfectly flat paper. Trying to print anything double sided without using the duplex is near impossible!!! The paper tray can only handle 4 sheets of paper without having a fit. Stay well clear of this one if you ...

Poor warranty and high priced consumables

by   brotherdon ,  Dec 1, 2005
Pros: Fast, attractively designed, good drivers.
Cons: Very expensive to maintain, misleading warranty.
Review: This printer seemed pretty good at first, but the warranty does not cover "consumables". Our OPC belt cartridge (which is used to hold the image electrostatically) started to fail after 100 days, leaving streaks and smudges on the printed pages. Since ...
