Author's Review

I must say I was very much skeptical about buying this unit after reading a couple of bad reviews on here… but once it went on sale, it was an offer I could not refuse… so I bit the bullet and got the unit … and let me tell you friends, this is an AWESOME machine… I have had a couple of HP all-in-ones and use a Cannon printer at work but this unit beats them all hands down and tied behind the knees….
I have printed over a hundred photos on photo paper (gloss 4”x6”) so far in the past week or so that I have gotten it and the quality is just been better than anything I have previously printed…by the way it may be helpful for you to know that after a over a hundred 4x6 prints my lowest cartridge is cyan at slightly higher than quarter of a tank…

I have also scanned and reprinted my degrees and a couple of certificates for hanging in the office since my originals came sealed in the carrier case they come in (thus the originals cant be framed unless the nice carrier case they came in is destroyed-retarded I know) and my boss walked in and said “wow…looks nice… they look better than the original” and you know what… the reprints DO look nicer than the originals believe it or not! And he didn’t believe they were copies until I showed him the originals…

Couple of downfalls though, this unit does NOT come with a decent photo editing/printing software so I use Microsoft PictureIt Express to scan or print my pictures. The other thing is printing over a hundred pictures so far I made a couple of boo-boo’s and I think I know why people are unsatisfied…
Number One: make sure your photo paper is loaded the right way with the glossy side on the print side or else your photos come in looking worse than a newspaper photo… I was used to my old printer which loaded the face up as opposed to face down for this unit…
Number Two: make sure you pick the right setting for the right print setting … you can adjust various things such as the sharpness in Print Properties and your pictures come out even nicer …
Number Three (Most importantly): your printer can only print supplied information by your computer ... so the higher the number of the pixels on the photo that's being sent to the printer, the higher the quality of the printed picture... For instance, after printing some old photos that I took with my old 2 megapixel camera, I noticed a drop in quality of the printed pictures when compared to those taken by my 5 megapixel camera... but that's not the printers fault... it has to do with the camera that took the picture...it simply didnt supply the printer with enough pixels! :D

Anyways I highly recommend this unit as I have been really happy with it… I am sure you will too… just make sure you use an alternative software to scan and print picture and make sure you set up the right type of paper (ie, inkjet paper, photo paper etc.) in the set up menu just before printing :)

Happy printing...
