A digital tuning clock radio with backup that sounds the alarm during power failure.

A SmartSet AM-FM-CD Alarm Clock that has digital tuning with 10 AM / 10 FM station presets. Has a big-digit blue display. Has adjustable time zones so auto set will set to your time. Has dual alarms that can be set to 7 days, M-F or weekend only. Also can be set for radio, buzzer, or CD on both alarms. Adjustable dimmer, touchless snooze and snooze button, and nap timer. Has a 3V lithium battery backup (included)and a 9V battery (not included) backup for alarm.
The good:
I was looking for a digital tuned clock radio that had a battery backup that would allow the alarm to sound even during a power outage. This one does that. Also digital tuning is nice as it is so easy to change stations. Another great feature is that the owners book includes instructions on how to adjust the daylight savings time when they change the dates next year. Touchless sensor is a nice concept. (see below)
The bad:
Expensive at $100.00 Display is too bright at night. I went to an office supply store and purchased a clear blue binder pocket. I cut it to fit over the diplay (took 3 layers)so that it diffused the display so that it was dimmer, yet readable. Also found that touchless snooze would activate at a distance of 2 feet, so keep clock radio farther than that from your bed. I put something in front of the sensor to block it. It is located in the middle on the front panel near the bottom. Unit is large. (12x8x5)
Summary:
I think this is a great clock radio. Have looked for many months to find a clock radio with digital tuning and backup alarm that actually sounds during a power failure. Was able to overcome disadvantages except for the price. But getting up on time to get to work is worth it, as power failure is frequent here both day and night.
