Travolta at his bizarro best

"Broken Arrow" the military term for a lost nuclear bomb is humourously commented on by one of the characters: "I'm not sure what disturbs me more... or that it happens so frequently that there's actually a term for it!" The film deals with exactly that - the loss of two nuclear bombs and the subsequent recovery efforts. John Travolta plays a fighter pilot who hasn't been getting his props and decides to steal two bombs to reap the cash benefits. His opponent in this endevour is Christian Slater and a spunky park ranger. John Woo directs, and the action scenes (helicopter crashes galore) are excellent. Travolta is especially witty with comments such, "Please don't shoot at the thermonuclear weapons," and in response to another character about assurances he's been given, he replies, "Everything is going fine, I assure you." Slater isn't especially compelling in this role, as Travolta completely overrides him, personality wise. The park ranger female is, at best, an annoyance, and she's wearing some sort of bright blue earrings that draw the eye and distract from any performance she might be giving. Overall, a decent action movie that lets Travolta be as wonderfully cruel as you can see he wants to be in some of his more comedic movies.
