Author's Review
Before I knew Britax existed, my oldest was 4yrs and 40lbs.
I did what I thought I HAD to do and I moved him to a booster.
Fast forward 2yrs and he was flopping so badly due to a mild scoliosis that he would be sleeping with his head on his knees. By then, I knew about Britax and had the Marathon for his brother (originally for their baby sister, but given to her brother to put him back harnessed), but he was already almost too tall for it.
We tried everything. We tried reclining the vehicle seat (I drive a van), different boosters, nothing worked.
Finally, I decided that, when tax time came, I had to do something.
My family offered to help so we could buy two (one was a Husky), so each boy could have one.
My oldest had a choice of patterns for his and he wanted the onyx. I was skeptical as I'd heard some dislike it, but I really love it. The middle grey area is like jogging pants... so it's waterproof and very easy to clean.
The best part about the seat is that the top slots are 21" tall and the weight limit is 22-80lbs. So no matter how your child is built, this seat will harness them when none other will.
It is forward facing only, so it is only for children over 1yr of age.
He has since not only outgrown this seat (in 9 months... he grew over 8"), but it stopped the bruising he got on his spine and his scoliosis is no longer detectable.
This seat was like a back brace in the car.. holding my son up so his spine was straight in the one place I couldn't make sure he did that.
It was easy to install with the long beltpath, shortbeltpath, or latch, with the recline bar or (for long beltpath or latch) without... and the tether is easy to use.
I would recommend this seat to any parent who wants to keep their child as safe as may be, but it is no small seat.
It is 21" wide and 30lbs, so make sure you have room.
now that he's too big and is in the Parkway, my son still asks sometimes if he can ride in his "big black comfy seat".
This is not a baby seat. It is a big boy seat.
