Product Review

Folding stroller with full recline

by   cxshih ,   Sep 14, 2007

Pros:  Price point, full recline, attached bag

Cons:  Cumbersome folding, no rain cover, no cup holder

The Bottom Line:  A great supplemental stroller for long days for quality naps. The full recline feature and well covered sitting area is the biggest selling point.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

We purchased the Britax Preview to supplement our current stroller collection because we wanted a fairly inexpensive umbrella type stroller that had a full recline for those long days out and about. Where we could not get back home for our one year old to take a nap and that we could leave unwatched at an amusement park without worrying that it would walk. The Preview fit all these requirements.

We were able to find the 2006 model for only 55 dollars. The stroller is about 20 pounds and is fairly large even when folded. The large wheels do have suspension built in all four corners and each have two wheels. The rear wheels can be locked and the front wheels can be locked from swiveling.

The folding and unfolding of the stroller is a bit on the cumbersome side. The rear bar takes some effort to first unlock the stroller but then it folds up easily. When folded, the plastic frame lock bar appears fairly cheap.

We like the large sun canopy with the attached and detachable bag on back for basic necessities. The understorage is also average for an umbrella stroller. It is made of basic mesh fabric.

What we liked about the stroller and what eventually led us to buy the Preview is the recline feature. The back reclines fully with two arms at the base which unlocks with a push, and it lowers down almost completely flat. The fabric sides also extend down with the back, and the back of the large canopy extends down to make a little room for junior to sleep. The leg board can be raised from the 90 degree to the 180 degree position as well to extend the sleeping area so his legs won't be dangling.

The sun canopy has a fabric flap covering a small window that you can use to peek into the stroller from the top. There is also a cloth covered bar across the front of the stroller used as a grab bar or the attachment bar for the Britax infant seat travel system. There is no snack tray.

Our only gripes about the Preview are quite minor. One is the lack of a cup holder and the other is the lack of an included rain cover. We were able to easily take care of both these problems. The Graco premium raincover fits perfectly on the Preview, and we're using a generic clip on cup holder we purchased at the local baby shop.

Overall, for the price, this is a great stroller that fits our current needs. Unlike our Bug Cameleon, it is not the most beautiful stroller in the world but it would be difficult to find a stroller with full suspension and full recline at a price point that would leave you not to worry about leaving it alone while we went on rides in an amusement park.
