Makes me feel my toddler is safe!
Date of Review: Jan 23, 2007
The Bottom Line: Worth every penny and then some!
On baby # 2 I probably would have kept using the same middle of the road brands that we had used with baby #1, but my son was born with brittle bone disease. So any Unnecessary jarring could cause him to break a bone or 5. So I started to look into what were considered the "best " on the market. My son does not have a more severe form of the disease and did not need a specialty made car seat, but I found out that Britax was who made the car seats for special needs children. This was very reassuring to me and so I started to look at Britax as a brand. I narrowed my choices to 2, the Marathon and the Boulevard. I went to the store and looked at the two. I choose the Marathon because the head support for infants on the Boulevard was made of a hard plastic.
So now all about the marathon:
1. It is front or rear facing
2. For 5-65 lbs
3. Rear facing to 33 pounds
4. 4 position harness
5. 3 reclining positions
These are the main selling points. Things that aren't on the box. This is a very padded car seat with lots of extras. Such as additional padding for infants, an infant pillow and strap covers. It has a great latch system and is very easy to install. All of the layers are easily removed for cleaning ( a big plus compared to other seats that never quite go back together right). The fabric is very high quality and doesn't fade like my previous car seats.
This is very sturdy and worth every penny. If you twisted my arm to find a negative it is a bulky car seat if you need to take it out of the car.
Overall this is a great seat that I feel safer having my son in!
