I've had good results from my Brinkmann Gourmet Smoker

by   dflittle ,  Jul 15, 2003
Pros: Inexpensive. Provides good results. Economical.
Cons: No draft control. Limited scale on the thermometer.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a reasonably priced, entry level, smoker then I would recommend the Brinkmann Gourmet Charcoal smoker. Practice make perfect.
Review: I have used my Brinkmann Gourmet smoker twice over the last two weeks and had acceptable results bot ...

First Time's the Charm

by   juanvc ,  Jul 7, 2004
Pros: Very easy to use
Cons: Nothing.
The Bottom Line: If you want a water/bullet smoker, this is a quality item.
Review: I thought this smoker was great right out of the box. For my trial run, I smoked an 8lb chicken and a 7lb butt. Like the other reviewer, I use a charcoal chimney. I started with one chimney and had trouble getting up to temp until I added the second ...

Excellent Product - Great Results

by   fasttrack01 ,  Jun 27, 2007
Pros: Excellent temperature control, fantastic final product, easy to clean.
Cons: Somewhat annoying to assemble, hard to add water through the side door.
The Bottom Line: This product is great for anyone who wants to learn how to smoke meat and/or for anyone whose budget is somewhat low. Converts easily to a grill. Great purchase.
Review: I purchased this smoker after doing a LOT of research on smokers. We could not afford the Weber Smokey Mountain, which was reviewed to be the best small-budget smoker (about $260), so I purchased this one because it fit our budget the best ($100 at ...

This smoker works great.

by   justsayit ,  Sep 2, 2008
Pros: Easy to light coals, easy to clean. Used as a grill too.
Cons: Handles need to be shaped with pliers. Temperature gauge not very accurate but functional.
The Bottom Line: Smoker cooks tender meat. Can use as normal / portable charcoal grill. Coal easy to access and has vents in base, heated quick. Costs lot less than other smokers.
Review: I purchased this smoker for a couple of reasons. The smoker cylinder lifts off the base for easy access to hot or cold charcoal. The charcoal pan has slots/ vents and the drip pan has a hole for air. It can be used for charcoal grilling too. The ...

My whole family was really impressed

by   jpd43 ,  Sep 16, 2008
Pros: Easy assembly. Can be used as a smoker or a grill.
Cons: Handles holes did not line up, but with minimal pressure they were fine.
The Bottom Line: This easy to use Smoker/Grill is great. Having never smoked before and having the rave reviews I got the first time, makes this a staple in my household.
Review: I love the results so far! My first attempt was Moton's marinated Tri-Tip from Costco. We had a Original Smoke House and a Rosemary & Wine.I filled up a charcoal chimney and we are off! Once the charcoal was ready I just dumped it in the tray, ...

Glad I Did Not Let Bad Reviews Deter Me!

by   pamrussell78 ,  Feb 7, 2005
Pros: Easy to assemble. Clear, no mistake about them, directions.
Cons: Temp gauge should give reading in degrees, not just "warm" "ideal" and "hot."
Review: Like the rest of my life, I read a couple of reviews only *after* I had purchased the smoker and it was in the mail. I am tremendously glad I did not let a couple of sourpuss reviews stop me! The Brinkmann Gourmet Charcoal Smoker makes fantastic smoked ...

The sun is out and the ribs are done!

by   cuculuain ,  May 28, 2006
Pros: Easily constructed, operated, and cleaned.
Cons: Cheap thermometer, labor-intensive.
The Bottom Line: Buy the Brinkman Gourmet Charcoal Smoker if you prefer perfectly smoked meats at a fair price!
Review: It’s the Memorial Day weekend, my belly’s full and my clothes smell of hickory smoke. I’ve just spent the day slaving over a mound of beef and pork ribs, expertly prepared in my Brinkman Gourmet Charcoal Smoker. My Brinkman is ...

Easy grillin'

by   cmccmc ,  May 29, 2008
Pros: Ease of use, smker or grill configuration options.
Cons: None so far - we'll see if it weathers ok.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys grilling.
Review: My wife got this as an anniversary gift from her employer. There were a bunch of crummy things to pick from, so I vote for this. I'm glad I did. Assembly - I broke it out on Memorial Day weekend, assembled it in short time. There is a little ...

I'm Happy With My 2 Brinkmann Smokers

by   dreamweaver3 ,  Nov 11, 2003
Pros: Price, EZ Assembly, Small Enough To Store
Cons: Replacement Parts Cost
The Bottom Line: If you are new to smoking food, Brinkmann is the one. If you are a pro, you already know this one works great for the money.
Review: Basically the Brinkmann Smokers are... 1.Efficient- from first timer to advanced chef. And 2.inexpensive- the price of a smoker/grill will not produce better tasting food. Hopefully this review can help you decide depending on what you expect from t ...

Liked it after I figured it out

by   ronwem ,  Jun 9, 2003
Pros: Does a great job. Will cook for hours.
Cons: The coals 'ash up' and put themselves out in a fairly short span of time.
The Bottom Line: Buy it, but take care...
Review: As an experiment, I use the second grill to put the coals on. This took care of the problem with the coals and significantly stabilized the cooking temperature.

I ultimately made a grate for the bottom with expanded metal and some one inch...
