Works Great

Well I got mine about a month ago. So far it works great. I have done chicken, ribs and brisket. It stayed at about 250 degrees and everything smoked and cooked fine in roughly the time we thought it would take (which is slow). I am using it
without a cord which I think is important. It only went up to 200 when I first tested it with a cord. It heats up in about 10 min. It cleans up easy (I put heavy duty tinfoil below the heating element and in the water bowl. It is starting to show some blackness on the side of the lid. The best thing about this thing is not having to mess with gas (running out) or coals (reloading) and varying temperatures. It stays pretty constant. Some large chunks of hickory briefly shot the temps up to 300, but besides that it just cruises along at 250. All ya need to do is add some hardwood every hour or so, and that is easy cuz the rest of the unit just lifts right off, so you can throw the wood on the bottom. It might be nice to have a thermometer on top (I added one, $5 at home depot) and a vent on top (although it is vented between the lid and the grill (but that is what makes it black). It also might be nice to have a variable thermostat on the heating element. All those would push the price up past the $60 (at lowes or walmart).
