Burn or fire.... it's this toasters speciality!

My wife and I searched for a new toaster for a long time because we wanted one with long slots for that great Italian bread and yet wide slots for bagels. We thought we had found the prefect toaster in this Breville but the price was rather high $100+ but we gave in anyway. What a disappointment and more recently, what a scare.

We returned the 1st toaster because it burnt everything beyond a setting of 3. I can’t imagine why the settings go as high as 9 since there is no food I can imagine that won’t be burnt beyond 4 or 5. The replacement unit was a little better but still can't use setting 4 or higher because bread will burn. Also, if you try to toast more than one batch of bread, one-after-another, they will burn even at setting 3. The real scare came yesterday morning when my son came running into our bedroom yelling "FIRE!". He tried setting up breakfast for the family and started a fire in the toaster by doing 2 batches of toast.

DO NOT BUY this toaster unless you sit by the toaster with a fire extinguisher while it's in use. Oh yea, if you do use it, be ready to hunt for the toast after it "pops" out...... it might be across the kitchen on the floor. They need to lighten up on the springs that launch the toast out of the toaster.

I’m contacting Breville today to get a different toaster or refund. I don’t want to wake up to anymore fires in the kitchen.
