Stain on your Soul
Date of Review: May 30, 2001
The Bottom Line: This is a great album, and people who tell you otherwise don't know their a$$ from their elbow.
Aaron Lewis has taken a giant leap with this album. Staind's first album, disfunction, was good in that it was a hard hitting metal album with alot of emotion behind it. But something Break the Cycle has that it's other didn't, is a sign of true talent. Any band can write a metal song, trust me, i have done it myself. But not on many band's best days could they write a song like any of the songs on this album. First of all, Staind changed their formula. Aaron Lewis uses his amazing singing voice alot, insted of his death metal screaming voice. Second, the guitar parts arn't just chords distorded to the point where you can't tell what they are playing, the are actually intricate melody's to accompany the vocals. And third, Staind breaks away from playing Metal, and tries to write softer songs, very successfully i might add, like the famous "outside" and the soon to be famous "Epiphany." This is a CD will be in my CD player for a long time, and i sudgest you guy but it yourself.
