Breadman TR888

by   j_philip ,   Dec 17, 2005

Pros:  easy to use, large vertical pan, heavy pan construction.

Cons:  i really haven't found anything yet.

The Bottom Line:  seems like one of the best on the market at a very nice price. Large vertical loaf, heavy constructed breadpan

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased the breadman tr888 mainly due to the large vertical loaf. ( 2 lb) It was the only machine i found that had a vertical pan large enough to make a "decent" size loaf of bread. I had a sunbeam, but they stopped making the model i had and got very cheap in the construction. I looked for 2 yrs to find one comparable to it. Some of the other machines I looked at had short vertical pans and were very thin. This would be fine, but I really don't like my bread to look like a "mushroom". My thoughts about vertical vs horizontal loaf. If I want a horizontal loaf I have an oven and bread pans to bake them in. The machine will prepare the dough for that. I prefer the vertical loaf due to the nice pan crust and the very nice square shape. The recipe book gives pretty good selection of breads, deserts, dough, and butter recipes. I bought this to make breads, I doubt if i will use most of the other features. The light crust setting makes a very light soft top crust, medium setting is very nice. I looked at a TR 555 but could not find one local to check out the construction. I would have purchased the tr555 if it had a larger vertical loaf size, and a if it has a delayed bake cycle. The breadmans seem to be very well constructed machines and I am sure i will get alot of years enjoyment from it. Most important thing to remember. MAKE sure the ingrediants are at ROOM temp, and make sure the yeast goes on top of the flour and DOES NOT GET DAMP....Put the ingrediants in the machine in order they are listed, and you should not have any trouble making nice bread....I do recommend this machine. It is seems very well built.
