Braun Ultrak 30 Lap Memory 2 Line Display Electro-Luminescent Stopwatch

I replaced a Braun FreeGlider model 5617 with the newer improved 8975 - 360 complete.

What you get: The new razor, a nice hardsided carry case, brush for cleaning, cord for power, and the razor/shaver.

What you don't get: this is the same shaver as the 8985 without the "clean&charge" system - so you save money if you clean it yourself.

I read about the cleaning system on other reviews, and decided it probably wasn't really worth it - I've been cleaning electric razors since I could shave - 15 years at least.

Anyway - this shaver is quieter than the freeglider, charges very quickly, and holds a charge. One thing I've alway's like about the Braun's - they hold their charge. I can go shaveing almost daily (except weekends) for a month on a charge usually. I don't have a weak beard either - by 4 or 5 in the afternoon, I could probably use another shave.

The razor blades do a nice job of catching the hairs on my collar line that usually go in-grown when I shave with a blade, and my freeglider started missing. It also trims nicely around ears and yes - the nose. I have a goatee, and once in a while it'll pull a little but that just tells me my goatee is getting a little long and needs a trim.

The foil and cutter block are pretty easy to remove and clean, and I tap them out after every shave - only clean them with the brush when it needs a charge. The foil on this model is significantly more delicate than the freeglider and other Braun models. It is not protected all around by the plastic - the foils run completly from side to side, and look like they'd be easy to damage - but I have yet to do so. The cutter block looks different than the other Braun models as well, and is more stout. I've broken a ring off the freeglider before (went to long without replacing) and this new "gillette" style cutter block seems more stout than the others.

Overall - I'd say this is a great new Braun product - another long-lifer in my toiletry bag. Thanks Braun!
