Author's Review
First, I have been epilating for over 15 years. As many previous reviews have mentioned the pain, I will address that first. Stick with it!!! The pain diminishes greatly after the first few uses, especially if you are accustomed to shaving or a depilatory formula. Let's face it ladies, if the hair roots have been happily planted for years, they are not going to come out without a fight :)
My first epilator was one of those coiled metal jobs, and since then, I have owned 2 other Braun units. None of them can compare to this model.
I have very dark, very thick hair and none of the models I used previously lived up to the advertised promises. The Braun Silk-epil surpasses all of my expectations.
It removes even the shortest hairs and epilates faster than any other brand/model I have tried. The light was an ingenious addition (a woman must have come up with this feature), making short work of searching for those errant strays.
The massaging roller attachment helps to decrease discomfort slightly, but experienced epilators will probably prefer to remove it, as it works a bit faster without.
My only concern with this unit is the question of durability. This unit uses a tweezing system of metal against plastic. Other epilators use a metal tweezing system and I wonder how long the matal against plastic will wear over time.
Overall, I find I can now go much longer between epilations (7-10 days), I have less ingrown hairs, and my legs feel fantastically smooth!
