Fantastic Shaver (with update)

3 month update:

I though I noticed that the shaver wasn't getting as close as it was intially so I thought I would try my original wet shaver with cream and preshave oil. Big mistake- I was quickly reminded how close the Flex XP actually gets.

With a wet razor I found that it looked like 1.5 days growth after shaving with the electric not too mention the shaving bumps. As it turns out my shaving was getting a little lazy and as a result was not as close. I have corrected my technique and can say that 3 months after purchase this shaver shaves like the first day of use altough I am noticing some shaving bumps on my neck...still there is no comparison to a wet razor.

This was my first Electric shaver. I have a thick french Canadian beard and the Shick Quattro could not even get the hair on my neck without leaving me bumpy and bloody.

I purchased the 5775, which is the same shaver without the cleaning station, as I have heard mixed reviews about the longevity of the base stations.

Anyway, give yourself some time to get used to it. After the first few shaves I was ready to return the product because it couldnt get my neck clean enough for me. Now that Ive been shaving with it for 1 week it does a better job on my neck than the mach 3 or the quatro.

I use lectric shave pre shave, because it was the only one available at a local drug store, although I have also heard good things about king of shaves pre shave juice.

TIP: Shave your neck first before the shaver heats up as that will cause irritation. If the shaver gets hot, simply dump the shave dust and use an aerosol lubricant on the foil. This immediately cools the shaver which reduces irritation.

the shave is comparable to a blade shave. I used to use the old fashioned brush and shaving soap so had a very close shave with a blade. This Shaver is almost as close, the only way I can tell it is not as close is that my beard is slightly fuller in the morning. This is worth while trade off considering how convenient this shaver is not too mention how well it shaves my neck!
