Television speaker's

Don't get me wrong I have nothing against BOSE, in fact I own BOSE products, its just I can't recommend this V C S 30 speaker system. I have an existing BOSE AM5 series 3 and upgraded it with V C S 30. The AM5 is good but the V C S 30 is not so good, especially on ambiance sound, which a surround speaker's should be. It sounded like a television speaker. The plastic enclosure is thin thus making unwanted resonance and its low on power. The model 100 has a maximum of 80 watts into 4 - 8 ohms and the V C S 10 has a maximum of 100 watts into 4 to 8 ohms rating. BOSE AM5 series 3 is rated at 200 watts maximum into 4 - 8 ohms thus the V C S 30 is out powered by my front surround so my rear surround and center speaker cannot be heard, this is the problem I encountered, one thing also, I used a Yamaha R X V 995 which is rated at 100 watts per channel all 5 channel driven at 4 - 8 ohms, so when I played a Dolby digital program the particular movie was matrix. My model 100 left rear surround channel was over powered and was damaged it opened. I returned it back to BOSE and they replaced it. They advised me to adjust my receiver to make my rear channel speaker setting into small and adjust the volume into low. So when I played the movie again the surround cannot be heard and when I turned it up. The surround and the center channel sounded like a television the plastic is making unwanted noise. My SONY flat TV is more likely to produce a good center rather than the V C S 10 and the surround channel is making rattling sound's, the plastic grill cannot handle the excursion made by the cone of the full range speaker thus making rattling sound's. I cannot maximize the performance of my receiver so I decided to turn down the V C S 30 and the BOSE AM5 and changed it to BOSE AM15 this time all 5 channel's are uniform on rated power and the steering of surround is good on ambiance but I did notice a lack of frequency, maybe the crossover built into the BOSE AM15 is made to produce that frequency only so that to prevent the unwanted sound anyway noise are made and rated also by frequency. anyway now I'm satisfied with my present system rather that the V C S 30 surround speaker hope this help you to choose the right surround for your system.
