I first experienced the Bose Quiet Comfort Noise Cancelling Headphones while waiting for flight in the Denver airport. Bose had a booth set up in the middle of the airport. I put on the headphones and turned on the noise canceling switch. I was immediately hooked, however I thought the price was a little steep.
Several months later I was in a Sharper Image store and tried on a different brand of noise canceling headphones, which cost the same amount as the Bose. It wasn't even close to the same noise canceling quality.
Finally after several more months of thinking about the purchase, I went online and decided to jump in for this expensive piece of equipment. If you haven't experienced Bose customer service you are missing out on one of the best customer service departments around. The product shipped the next day and as I tracked it on their Internet site, it was at my house within three days.
The product is quality throughout. It comes with a nice padded carry bad, along with all the necessary adapters.
The first task was to listen to the sound production from my Apple iPod. I put it through a variety of genres, from jazz to hard rock. WOW. The sound reproduction is outstanding. Bass is solid, high ranges are perfect. Bose sound reproduction is perfect, not overly done or tinny as some headsets sound.
I continued to enjoy the headphones with music for several weeks when I needed to take a flight for business. As the plane took off, I switched the noise reduction on and I learned why I paid almost $300.00 for this headset. The headset works by actively monitoring and counteracting unwanted noise, reducing it before it reaches your ears. It recognizes what you're about to hear and compares it with what you want to hearmusic or silence itself then counteracts the undesirable noise and delivers the sound you want.
What I could hear where soft voices of the flight attendants or people seated around me. What I did not hear AT ALL was the roar of the engines or any other noise from the outside. Bose claims that their technology can actually make you feel rested over not have a noise reducing system when flying. I really thought that was hype, but I was WRONG! I slept so well on the flight, it was unbelievable.
Since that initial flight, I have used the headphones on over 50 flights. If you travel, this headset is worth much more than the $299.00 you will pay for it. I also use it when I mow to cut down on the noise of the riding lawn mower.
This product was one of the best investments I have made in quiet a long time. Try it on one flight of three hours or more and you will be hooked!!
