Author's Review
I bought the lifestyle 28 (summer 2004) after listening to a couple of other systems at a few places. Always wanted to hear what they were like. Must say up front that I am not a professional or expert on audio equipment, nor do I work for any retailer or anything like that. However, I am a musician, 23-plus years, and have been in many recording studios, and have listened to great sounding systems many times before. And my hearing at the last test was excellent, surprisingly. Can't say I tested many other similar surround systems, either. All that being said, the Bose 28 system is by far the most amazing audio system I have ever heard cd's and dvd's through, anywhere, ever. I must say up front as well that after reading great as well as terrible reviews of Bose products, while people are entitled to their opinions, and some of the things they complain about Bose and this system are true, such as certain features regarding slow-motion playback, etc. are not in the system, only someone 1/2 deaf or totally retarded could possibly say that this system sounds anything less than outstanding. I think some of the bad reviews may be due to the fact that if you don't raise the bass and treble, as well as the surround volume of the rear speakers, and a few other things like movie EQ., you can't really say you've heard the way the system really sounds. The presets are at zero when you open the box, and if you don't use the remote to adjust those things, I will be the first to say it's a disappointment. Sounds way better than any movie theater I've been in, probably only because the size of an average living room is more suitable for accurate listening than a huge theater filled with people in different seating locations. Expensive, yes, but I plan on keeping this one for a long time, and every day after work I sit and listen to dvd's and other things, and are absolutely blown away by the clarity of all instruments, richness of sound, reality of all special effects, and volume that this system is capable of. Live concerts on dvd sound way better than when I was at those same concerts with good seats. Much rather sit home and listen on Bose. BIG THUMBS UP!!! I LOVE BOSE!!!!! The new Wave Radio is excellent too!!!!!!
