Smaller than you think

We bought this refrigerator during our kitchen redo in November 2006 because of its counter depth size. Appliances were not installed until late December 2006. Information from the brochure told us the cubic feet was 20.19 but in reality usable space is only 13 cft according to the Consumer Report May 2007 issue. We have been very disappointed with this model and had to purchase a refrigerator for the garage to store what we can't put in this one and hold the extra ice that we have to buy.

The other big problem we have had is the ice maker. We have had it replaced twice so far. First the whole unit was not producing ice due to temperature control. They replaced the ice maker unit completely. The second time the ice cube tray was cracked and it leaked so ice build up and therefor the ice cube tray would not turn thinking there was enough ice in the container. They replaced the tray after waiting for almost 6 weeks due to not having the tray in the factory. It still does not produce enough ice even though we have had it sit idle to fill up completely. We only have two adults in this household at most of the time and still don't have enough ice. Also discovered that new filters for the ice maker were over a hundred dollars each and when we called Bosch they did not even have them in stock anywhere! We finally found them on Fridgefilters.com for under 50 dollars and if you order two or more you get free shipping.

Another problem is the noise of the refrigerator during the day. A repair man had to come out and check but could do nothing for us. It is just noisy!

Lighting inside both sides is inadequate since it is in the back and once you put stuff on the shelf you block the light.

We discovered another major issue regarding buying an extended warranty. Bosch does not offer one to you like other manufacturers do but apparently GE can sell you one through the store you bought your appliances from. Unfortunately for us they refused to sell us an extended warranty because they want to sell you one at least one month before the one year warranty from Bosch runs out. I called in the month that the warranty was about to expire. So we are out of luck. We had purchased all new appliances from Bosch for the kitchen and spend almost 10 thousand dollars on this. Hope that we will not have any other problems with any of them.
