The Book to Read When You are Suffering

I began reading "The Shack" because it was a suggested reading for a class my husband and I were taking through our church.  While reading the book, I found out that the baby I was pregnant with had a chromosomal abnormality and would not live beyond the womb.  My husband and I were devestated.  We questioned God's love for us and wondered how a God of love could do this.  We prayed for a miracle, but during the process of reading the book (which took a couple months, because it is hard to read extensively if you are in so much sorrow) we lost our baby at 25 weeks. Combined with prayers, this book was an intregal part of me being able to hold onto my faith through the tragedy of losing our baby.  The story explains God's unconditional love for us in a way I have never heard before.  I believe in a God who loves us without expectation, and that is exactly the highlight I got out of the book.  The book also explains how Jesus's love has no bounds.  I also felt that the book relieved my sorrow to know that my baby is being taken care of up in heaven by God.  Please read this book if you are struggling with the thought that God does not love you.  This story will reaffirm that He certainly does.
