The Best Action Story Ever

I first read this book in eighth grade for an assignment. The book was great I read it again and got my teacher to let me read it for a big project. This was the first time a project of this size was this easy. This book just is so good. I would suggest reading the book twice so it makes more sense because it is confusing at first.

This book follows d’Artagnan in his quest to become a musketeer. He leaves Gascony where he lives to go to Paris. On the way he gets in a duel and losses his letter of recommendation from his father. When in Paris he goes to the home of the musketeers but is unable to become on. On his way out he gets in duels with three of the musketeers Porthos, Athos, and Aramis. When they are about to begin their duels the cardinal’s guards come to arrest them for dueling is illegal. The four of them fight off the guards and become friends, which leads to their many adventures including saving the queen and many others.

Dumas does a great job telling this story and making it interesting with the sword fights unlike many of the other classics which are long and wordy like Dickens among others. This book will keep you interested throughout the whole time you read it which may be awhile.
