Want to know (statistically) what your chances are of ever becoming rich?

Date of Review:  Sep 10, 2001
The Bottom Line: Want the ingredients for the millionaire recipe? It's all here. This fascinating, if somewhat dry read should be required reading for anyone opening a checking account. Worth it; highly recommended.
Review: Many millionaires have a secret: you would never suspect they're rich. But there's more to it than that... This little secret is actually the primary reason they're so wealthy. No kidding. No, they're not hiding anything from you, nor do they desire...

A Breath of Fresh Air Amidst Get Rich Quick Books

Date of Review:  Oct 30, 2006
The Bottom Line: This book is one of the most realistic books I have read about acquiring wealth. The is no hype and flattery just facts.
Review: What does it take to become a Millionaire? The Millionaire Next Door gives some surprising facts as to what it really takes to be a millionaire. It seems that the common conception of America's rich is really a misconception. This book redefines...

A Good Book if you are selective wih its advice.

Date of Review:  Dec 29, 2008
The Bottom Line: A good start on the Self Help road as long as you treat its advice with caution.
Review: Like may who start out on the road of self help books this was the first one I read. It does, on the surface, seem sensible enough, but despite some good advice it is also deeply flawed. “The Millionaire Next Door” isn’t alone in this respect, many...

:/ HA! More Like Sillyonaire Next Door!

Date of Review:  Jun 20, 2001
The Bottom Line: Skip this book and read Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad Poor Dad.
Review: In Thomas Stanley's, The Millionaire Next Door, the author states that being frugal and working hard is a way to financial success. The author also states that a person driving a Mercedes is not really wealthy. Unfortunately, the author also states...

Many Everyday People are Self-Made Millionaires

Date of Review:  Feb 17, 2001
The Bottom Line: I recommend this book to anyone who thinks they are incapable of increasing their net worth.
Review: This book has given me a totally different viewpoint on money management. I have always been of limited means but tried to live above my means. So, now I am in horribly debt and full of worry. Many of the points in this book are very simplistic;...

Worthy of a John Stossel 20/20 Episode, not a 350-page book

Date of Review:  Feb 18, 2001
The Bottom Line: The basic insight is helpful for us non-millionaires to increase our chance of becoming millionaires, but there is little here to help retool your own financial situation.
Review: [ general impression ]
My initial reaction after completing this book was, is that all? Don?t get me wrong, the basic concept of ?savers? becoming the millionaires is well supported but it doesn?t provide any payoff in this book. Any of these...

I'm ready to be just like them

Date of Review:  Dec 21, 2002
The Bottom Line: One heck of an eye opener, this book is worthy of any person's finance library.
Review: This is one heck of a book. It covers the statistical analysis by Thomas J Stanley in regards to his several years in studying the affluent. I definitely think this book should be read in high schools. It is an eye opener to know that the greater...

BE CHEAP

Date of Review:  Nov 23, 1999
Review: I had heard good things about this book, so I bought it. What a waste of money. The whole concept of the book could have been summed up in one chapter. Basically, save your money. I already knew this as well as most of the target audience.

It Still Takes a Lot of Work

Date of Review:  May 15, 2000
Review: This book doesn't give you any magical formula to become a millionaire, it takes a lot of work. But it has a lot of great points about why a lot of the people you would most expect to be millionaires aren't and those you would least expect are.

As exciting as 3 day old, dry toast

Date of Review:  May 4, 2000
