Author's Review
Are we insane? Or are the mad ones perfectly normal. What does it take for the sanest man to crack? Not much thinks the Joker, and he intends to prove it.
In Alan Moore's The Killing Joke, we are seeing two of pop-culture's most recognizable foes: Batman and The Joker. While widely regarded by most of society as kid play, this story is one of many that truely digs into the psycological backround of Batman and the Joker's minds.
In the world of comics, Joker's origin is a bit of a mystery, or at least it was until now. He was always suspected of being a criminal called " The Red Hood ", who fell into a vat of toxic chemicals while Batman pursued him. Now we find out it's true, but what went into the Joker putting on that hood, and changing his life forever.
This story actually has the ability to make you feel compassion for a character that remorselessly kills at a whim, a character who is responsible for the deaths of hundreds. We see his past, we see waht he intends for the future, we see the craziest man alive, show glimpses of sanity.
This is a must read for comic fans of any genre. But no Bat-fan can be without it. A beautifully written and drawn masterpiece, waiting to be enjoyed by any mature reader. Do yourself a favor, check it out.
