Brings Back Memories
Date of Review: Jul 12, 2000
It's strange how a book written so long ago can remind me so much of my own childhood. My adventures were never as grand as those in Tom Sawyer and I never was the talk of the town as Tom is in the story, but I had similar dreams of fame and fortune and living the pirates life.
The Story
Tom Sawyer is a classic story of about a years time in the life of Tom Sawyer. Tom Sawyer is a young boy full of superstitions. He is at different times a hero, a trouble maker, and a dreamer. His many adventures cause him to be the talk of the town and the envy of the other boys. There are many episodes in this story that are probably well known to you even if you haven't read the story before. This is due to the fact that Tom Sawyer has been made into a movie many times. You're likely to recognize the fence painting episode, the murder, and the cave. Even if you are familiar with the story I think you will still find it enjoyable to read.
In the story Tom searches for treasure and dreams of becoming a famous pirate. It reminded me of how I would go on many "adventures" of my own looking for treasure and building forts. I especially recommend this book for males.
