Structure wrecks great plot
Date of Review: Jun 8, 2000
In Robinson Crusoe, Robinson Runs into an unheard of amount of adventure. Constantly traveling and becoming lost and stranded the book journeys alongside him as he survives through much. I had always heard of Robinson Crusoe and thought it would be a very good read. After all I very much enjoy adventure novels especially ones placed in the wilderness. I was, however severely disappointed. I barely finished the novel and got only a little enjoyment out of it. Why you ask. The tone of the novel is very dry and the extremely long sentence structure creates a distant, unemotional and hard read. The book has a very good plot, but is poorly written for a adventure novel. Daniel Defore should be writing scientific essays not an adventure story. I don?t recommend this book to those who are looking for a fun adventure book. Some might enjoy it if they are more used to this type of writing.
