Rich Dad, Poor Dad...Thanks Dad!

For those of us who are "Financially Illiterate," this book certainly gives us quite an education in simple, down-to-earth terms. I learned the difference between assets and liabilities (I never thought that owning a house would be considered a liability) and the term minding your own business has new meaning for me (as a result I've enrolled in a Starting Your Own Business course at a local community college). In fact, I enjoyed reading the book so much I bought the audio tape to listen to on my daily commute to my 9 - 5 job for inspiration.

At first the writing style irritated me - too repetitive and the first three chapters could've been condensed into one. Although the writing style is bland, as I continued reading I starting getting into the real meat of the book and the information made sense to me. It is honest and frank - no frills. Kiyosaki spells it all out using cliches and proverbial sayings ("the poor work for money, the rich make money work for them") - pretty good teaching tool. His sayings stay with you and motivate you to take action. And I agree with him on how important it is to teach financial literacy to our children since it is not taught in schools. It will certainly make a difference in their quality of life.
