Pros: Excellent characters and plot, provokes deep thinking, describes a real evil that scares me silly!
Cons: Could give us more info on the real bad guys he mentions at the end.
The Bottom Line: Read it - in fact, unless you're perfect, you NEED to read it immediately! Hurry! Before they GET YOU!
Review: Dean Koontz has done it again - really SCARED me! Koontz is my favorite writer and I believe I would be caught up in any tale he told. But the scariest part of this story is one of those things that is too close to the truth for comfort! Hate to ...

Pros: Characters, Subplots, Well-written, Pace, Issues
Cons: Lengthy, Weak Ending
The Bottom Line: A really good story but be prepared for a long, highly detailed suspense novel with a somewhat disappointing conclusion.
Review: Holy howlin saints alive! How many plots do we have here? How many characters? The wizard-baby breeder or the black hole, the hand, Dr. Doom, Crazy Aunt Gen, the Slut Queen, Toad, and the orphaned boy. Dean Koontzs ...

Pros: Good story line
Cons: Unnecessarily long
The Bottom Line: A good story but keep your dictionary and thesaurus handy as Koontz keeps you hopping with oversized and excessive detail
Review: I haven't read a Dean Koontz authored book in a couple of years but I don't remember him being this detail oriented. My paperback copy was six hundred and eighty-one pages. Enough already, this story could have easily been told in half that many pages. ...

Pros: Deep, rich characters and engaging story line.
Cons: He never answered his own riddle, and that distracted from the book.
The Bottom Line: I absolutely recommend this book to any reader who likes to think outside the box, and contemplate possibilities. Not familiar with Dean Koontz? Treat yourself to one of his books.
Review: Like many other Dean Koontz greats, One Door Away From Heaven was a journey into a dimension that is different from ours, but seems so close you can touch it-and with just the slightest stretch of the imagination, it IS ours. It had the same rich ...

Koontz Is One Door Away From Heaven, But His Novel Has Further To Go |
|||
|
Pros: Good character development and some weighty issues....
Cons: ...crammed into a book that crosses multiple genres and is sometime sloppy.
The Bottom Line: Not an awful read, but not Koontz' best and certainly not the best cross-genre read.
Review: As he ages, Dean Koontz has followed Stephen King from horror and supernatural fantasy genre work to more mainstream offerings. The beauty has been in watching both authors use their keen ear for dialogue and extraordinary sense of pacing (for Koontz, ...
