The Bottom Line: Every one should hear it at least once.
"Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!" It sounds like fun. Those are the opening lines of "Oh, the Places You'll go!" By Dr. Seuss. This highly entertaining and colorfully illustrated children's book is about a kid who leaves town. Outside he sees and experiences both good and bad things. He never let the bad things get him down. At the very end, he was moving mountains on one of the craziest contraptions you ever saw.
I love hearing this story read out loud. It has a certain rhythm and rhyme to it that sooths my ears and brightens my mind. It can easily be read in less than seven minutes. The flashy pictures are lots of fun to look at, but they can be tiring after awhile. Especially if you have a head ache or just need a break from the busy world. (Colors can have a huge impact on how you feel).
I haven't bought it yet. I probably won't ever get around to buying it. But I would enjoy owning it on tape. Then I could listen to it during the long drives on family vacation. That is something that I would really like to use this book for. It would also make an excellent birthday/Christmas present for any little kids who are learning how to read. It'll be challenging for them, but it has enough repetitive words and sounds that they could learn quite a bit by reading it to some one else.
