If Picoult will keep writing them I will keep reading them!

A few weeks ago I read Jodi Picoults novel Nineteen Minutes. As usual I spent the entire novel conflicted. Not because I did not like the book (I certainly loved it) but because I never seem to know whose side I am suppose to be on. This is because Picoult has a knack for writing in several voices at once so that you truely get a feel for each character. This does have a tendency to feel at bit confusing especially at first because you are not always certain whose point of view you are reading let alone whose point of view you are "feeling". This may be a bit confusing but it is also the driving force behind her novels.
This novel is no different in its ability to help you see more than one side to a story. You will cry for and with each unique character you meet. But be prepared. For everyone who has ever seen a senseless act such as a school shooting in the news and cried out for the blood of the (probably already dead) shooter you may see a different point of view. Instead of identifying only with the victims and there families (a fair and natural reaction) you will also feel remorse for the shooters family. You may even find yourself empathetic with the shooter.
Beyond all this is a story supported by engaging and believable characters. And just when you think you have it all figured out, just when you have started making peace with this towns tragedy Picoult throws in a twist that will drop your jaw!
