Wonderful series and wonderful author
Date of Review: Feb 9, 2000
I got aquainted with this author, Janette Oke, several years ago and this series of books was the first ones I ever read that had me so addicted to someone's style and wonderful story telling. Her first book in the series was published in 1979. I love anything prairie related anyway and these stories take place back in the 1800's.
I belong to the Crossings Christian Book Club and I anxiously await the monthly catalog they send to see if Janette Oke has anything new out that I haven't read yet. I absolutely love this author and have passed along my collection of books to other family members who have also become great fans of hers.
Besides the 8 volumes of the "Loves Comes Softly" series she has written
"Nana's Gift", "A Quiet Strength", "Too Long a Stranger", "A Gown of Spanish Lace", and the newest one, "The Meeting Place", which will have a sequel to be published in early 2000. This is the by far the best reading I have ever done and look forward to many more books from Janette Oke.
The series "Love Comes Softly" is the story of a wonderful romance back in the prairie days that continues with each new chapter and each new book in the series. It tells of the hardships and the happy times of this large loving Christian family with the main characters being Marty and Clark Davis. I really think any one would enjoy reading these enjoyable books.
