Date of Review: May 8, 2001
The Bottom Line: The starts off with their beginnings and goes through the lives, you see the children grow up and have children, you see their joys and pains.
I order all the books through a book club. I never heard of Janette Oke before. They must of snicker at me, because when I send my payment,I was wanting to know if there was more written about Marty and Clark? Then after a few more books, and her other series, I knew there was more.
I have read all 10 of the Love Come Softly series. She writes how they met, and about the children growing up, and then she takes a child or a grandchild of hers and another great story.
From the Love Come Softly series is the wonderful story called, Love's Abiding Joy.
Here a close up look of one of the books in the series.
Love Come Softly Series
The book Love's Abiding Joy.
Is the where the story has Marty and Clark arrived in the west on a train to visit their daughter Missie and her family. Marty so excited about going but dreads the long ride and being away from her family at home. Missie so excited to have her parents come for a visit, she shows them where they first lived and the house they have now. She was going to see her grandchildren she had never seen.
Misty was wanting all the news from home. Nathan, Missy and Willie's son was all over grandpa Clark, followed him around daily.
Marty and Clark end up staying with Missie and Willie through the winter because of his lost leg. He need time to mend. Marty and Clark make their home in the little cabin that Missie and Willie first lived in.
I thought the Chinese cook name Wong, was a clever idea to throw in Missie and Willie house, made me think of Hop-Sing, I was telling my brother about the book and about the Chinese cook, he thought the same thing, through this little addition to the story we get a feel of the writer, as a fiction writer myself, you add a little tits bits of your likes and dislikes in every story you write, Maybe, Mrs. Oke like Bonanza and she believe that ranches out west had Chinese cooks. I like the addition.
Love Come Softly series, Book Love's Unfolding Dream.
This is the story where Marty and Clark have their surprise child Belinda grows up. Belinda was born after Marty thought all those days are behind her, after all she a grandma.
This story centers on Belinda and her niece Amy Jo, Clare and Kate's daughter, and niece Melissa, who is Missy and Will daughter.
Belinda finds she has a love for nursing and studies under brother Dr.Luke Davis.
If you haven't read at least one book of Janette Oke, I suggest you give her a try. Out of all her writings this series Love Come Softly is her best work. I have read her other series, and this one is my favorite.
