Very Worthwhile!

If you know somebody affected by autism- a family member or a friend with a child on the autistic spectrum, this is a fantastic read to give you some perspective on how autism affects their lives. If you are personally touched by a child with autism and feel like nobody understands or knows what you're going through- pick up this book!

While factual about autism, this is truly more of a story about the emotional journey Jenny McCarthy went through with her son on the autistic spectrum. Written with humor and emotion, it makes for a read that gives you real perspective into her life and what she's been through.

Autism now affects 1 in 150 children and there are a zillion books on the subject. I was leary of a "celebrity" pitch on autism from somebody with the money to participate in ALL the therapies and visit all the top doctors. I found Jenny McCarthy's experiences in the book, however, to be very realistic and "normal". She has her opinions, for sure, but she also realizes that there is no "cure" for autism, and certainly not by any one means.

A fast read, a good read. It will warm your heart if you've had personal experience in what she writes about. It will open your eyes and fill you with compassion if you've not been personally touched but know somebody with autism.
