Not much to be thankful for

by  eplovejoy ,  Jun 19, 2002

Pros: Thomas' selection of material provides a few chuckles . . .
Cons: . . . but too few to make it worth reading 223 pages.
The Bottom Line: Thomas has covered the White House for more than 40 years. It would be difficult to make a boring book about her experiences, but she has.

Review: A great story, even better because it is probably true: When Lyndon Johnson was President of the United States, he hosted a dinner party at the White House. Bill Moyers, who was Johnson's press secretary, said grace. Annoyed, Johnson commanded,...

An alternate viewpoint

by  Godai-kun ,  Feb 24, 2003
16 out of 16 people found this review helpful.
Pros: an informed and amusing set of anecdotes about every president from Kennedy to Bush
Cons: Not a book that is easy to read cover to cover.
The Bottom Line: This book is probably best read in short bits over a period of time, but has a fair amount to say. Those interested in politics should consider it.

Review: Having read eplovejoy's excellent, but negative review of this book (and especially having seen that it is the only review available), I felt obliged to make a few comments for some contrast. While "Thanks for the Memories, Mr. President" is far...
