Brings fire into my life!

I normally don't read books unless I'm required to for school. This book I randomly chose for a summer reading about 5 years ago, and till this day, my eyes light up when I think of this Fahrenheit 451!

Short SHORT description about the book: As always, I don't want to ruin it for those who didn't read the book yet, so I'll say as little as I can. This book's main character is "Guy Montag" and the setting takes place far in the future. Basically this is a twisted, very bizarre story about a society where books are banned.

Montag's occupation is a fireman and works for Captain Beatty; but firemen in this time setting do NOT put out fires-- they start fires. The firemen start fires to any homes that have books, or any books seen anywhere. His wife, is pretty twisted to, all she seems to do is indulge herself in TV and audio alone.

Montag befriends a lively girl, Clarisse who talks a lot, but eventually disappears so mysteriously. He continues day by day setting books and houses with books, on fire, but eventually gets taunted by the visions of those who would die in the flames with their books.

a little character analysis: As a fireman, Guy Montag is just a fireman who does what he is told by Captain Beatty. Eventually he finds himself unhappy with his job and starts to question authority, and the burning of books. He is constantly trying to find answers about twisted happenings such as Clarisse's disappearance, and the truth behind why books are banned.

some plot analysis: Another odd thing about this society is that the speed limit is over, if I could remember, 100 miles per hour. The analytical reasoning behind ban of books and the high speed limit, is so people of their society would not have the freedom to think. Books allow people to freely write and think. At over 100 miles per hour, one would be solely concentrated on driving, rather than thinking of other things.

My experience:

I remember dreading the summer reading in high school and choosing what was left in the pit of what people didn't want to read-- Fahrenheit 451. I was interested in Sci Fi but not so much of reading a long book, so the amount of pages in the book may be intimidating.

The description, title, and image on the wasn't very appealing, and the book started off somewhat confusingly. Eventually, I got into the book and before I knew it, I was done with the reading.

Not only was I SHOCKED that I finished reading so quickly, I was SHOCKED by the twisted ending! Of course I'm not going to give it away, you'll have to read the book yourself. As mentioned before, the book was sooooooooooo twisted and bizarre. I was soooo into the book!

I highly recommend this book, especially for sci fi fans. The book was very fast to read and had mostly simple words for those are limited in large vocabulary. I really enjoyed the twists and conspiracies in the fictional future and the emphasis of a world would be like without books and freedom of thought.

If you're confused for whatever reason, try watching the movie based on this book; but remember, the movie doesn't represent the book EXACTLY.
