Date of Review: Mar 16, 2009
The Bottom Line: good addition to the saga
Bella is finally starting to grow up though some of her childish antics continue into the third book in the Twilight saga. After Edward and Jacob have both gone to every length imaginable to keep Bella out of trouble you would think she would open her eyes.
Bella is hurt that Jacob will not talk to her since Edward is back. She knows he loves her and she loves Jacob as well, but she knows with Edward is where she belongs. She desperately wants to be a part of his life forever and is frustrated that Edward refuses to change her until they are married.
On top of the stress of Edwards ultimatum and Jacobs refusal to talk is that Victoria is back. She has created an army of new vampires to get revenge for the death of her mate James.

I wish that I could say that Bella had once again won me over in this book like she did in Twilight. However her constant leading Jacob on and self righteous attitude leave a lot to be desired. She wants her cake, to eat it, and not share. Meaning though she knows that she belongs to Edward she does not feel that she should have to give up anything even the love of another boy.
Edward rises above and beyond thanks to his old fashioned values. He will not bend to Bella's will and holds true to the order of things.
This novel once again leaves me on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next. There were a few parts that drug out a bit, but not to bad. The sub-plot got lost in the mix until closer to the end though. You see the same character developement that you did in the first in this novel. Which helped in making you were a part of the story rather than just reading it.
It was nice to see two sides that disliked one another so much come together for something they both loved in the end. A good addition to the saga that left me wondering what would happen in the end.
