Brother Odd

Available in hardcover at the time of this writing, Brother Odd is a great installment in the 'Odd Thomas' collection by Koontz. Hopefully it won't be the last.

Koontz writes with wonderfully clear and colorful language to bring us a story filled with suspense, drama and emotion, overlayed with humor which, on occasion, causes the reader to chuckle out loud in the midst of high drama.

Odd Thomas is filled with compassion and comes off like your lovable little brother. He's strong and witty, a fry cook, humble, intelligent and self-effacing. He's the every-day hero and his tale ropes the reader in from the first page.

This book is easily stand-alone, although it certainly would help to have read the first two installments, "Odd Thomas" and "Forever Odd".

Accompanied by Elvis and the ghost dog Boo, Odd is out to save the children and nuns at a convent school attached to St. Bartholomew's Abbey set in majestic solitude in California's High Sierra. Hopefully he'll save the monks as well.

A great read, smooth and swift. I'm glad I got it in hardcover to add to my collection.
